Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Social Sciences, commencing Fall 2026. this position carries a 4/4 teaching load.
The Academy is looking for a dynamic and innovative faculty member dedicated to it’s mission of educating civic-oriented,global citizens and fostering students’ critical examination of contemporary political and social issues.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for an academic course load of 12 credits per semester in political science, including the core American Government course. The ideal applicant will also be prepared to teach upper-division electives in areas such as political culture, social movements, peace and conflict studies, or environmental studies.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the department’s strategic goals and agendas
- Participating in assessment activities
- Engaging in ongoing curriculum development
- Providing academic advising to students
- promoting general education initiatives throughout the Academy
- Fostering greater cultural understanding among students and faculty
All teaching positions at MMA require demonstrated computer literacy,excellent written and oral communication skills,and a thorough understanding of the Academy’s unique mission.
