Breaking: ayr Wellness, a multi-state cannabis operator, announced July 30, 2025, it has entered into a restructuring support agreement with its senior noteholders, planning to sell all assets and cease operations in all states, including Massachusetts. The company currently holds licenses for adult-use and medical cannabis retail locations in Boston’s Back Bay, Needham, Somerville, and Watertown, Massachusetts, as detailed on its website.

Many of these dispensaries operate under the “Sira Naturals” brand, the legal entity under which all of Ayr Wellness’ Massachusetts licenses are registered with the state Cannabis Control Commission (CCC). As of July 17, 2025, CCC data confirms all Sira Naturals licenses remain active.Ayr also maintains cultivation and manufacturing facilities in Milford, Massachusetts.

Beyond Massachusetts, Ayr Wellness operates in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Nevada. The company’s product portfolio includes cannabis brands such as Kynd, Haze, Later Days, and Levia, all produced in-house.

The restructuring agreement signals a notable shift for Ayr Wellness, which, according to a press release, aims to maximize value through an orderly liquidation of its assets. The company’s decision follows a period of declining cannabis prices in Massachusetts and broader financial challenges within the industry. Ayr Wellness’ senior noteholders are the primary stakeholders in the restructuring plan.
