Marvel Rivals Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 | No Mobile Release Planned
Marvel Rivals, the team-based shooter from NetEase Games and Marvel, is confirmed to be in development for the Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement came during an interview with Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo at the Game Developers Conference on March 24, 2026, according to reports from IGN and other gaming news outlets.
When asked directly about a potential Switch 2 version, Koo stated, “We’re working on it, but when we have news, we’ll announce that one.” He reiterated the commitment, adding definitively, “We will do it.” This confirmation follows earlier statements from NetEase representatives last year indicating interest in bringing the game to Nintendo’s next-generation console. Producer Weicong Wu previously stated the studio was “in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits,” whereas game director Guangyun Chen noted in July that a Switch 2 version was still under consideration, contingent on receiving development kits.
The development of a Switch 2 version addresses a long-standing question among fans, with discussions about the possibility surfacing since before the console’s launch. The game launched in December 2024 and is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
However, players hoping for a mobile version of Marvel Rivals are likely to be disappointed. Koo explicitly stated that a mobile release is not currently planned. “Yeah, this one on the mobile game is not going to work,” he said. “If we’re going to do a mobile, it’s going to be a whole different game. Because of the feedback, the touch. The controls are just so different.”
The confirmation of the Switch 2 port comes as Marvel Rivals navigates a competitive landscape in the online shooter genre. The game saw a player increase following the introduction of a PvE Zombies game mode and the addition of social spaces like the Times Square map. However, it now faces increased competition from Blizzard’s revamped Overwatch, which experienced a significant player surge in February 2026 after a major overhaul that included new heroes and a renewed focus on narrative.
NetEase recently launched Season 7 of Marvel Rivals on March 20, 2026, introducing the new hero White Fox. Season 7.5 will feature the addition of Black Cat, a popular villain and anti-hero from the Marvel universe. The season also includes a new map set in New York City, new accessories, and balance updates affecting several characters, including nerfs to Daredevil, Elsa Bloodstone, and Winter Soldier, and buffs to Hulk, Black Panther, Deadpool, and Blade. A team-up between Luna Snow and White Fox, as well as Storm and Adam Warlock, are also included in the updates.
