Martin Sander assumes board responsibility for sales and marketing at Audi
Effective October 1, 2026, Martin Sander has assumed the Board of Management responsibility for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG, returning to the company.
Martin Sander’s Career and Return to Audi
Born in Hildesheim, Sander completed his mechanical engineering studies at the Technical University of Braunschweig as a Diplom-Ingenieur. He has a long career in the automotive industry, having previously held various leadership positions at Audi in North America and Europe from 1995 to 2022. His past roles include Senior Vice President of Sales for Europe, Germany, America, and the UK.
From 2022 to 2024, Sander served as Chairman of the Management Board of Ford-Werke GmbH and General Manager of Ford Model e for Ford of Europe. Most recently, from 2024 to 2026, he was a member of the Board of Management for Sales, Marketing, and After Sales at Volkswagen Passenger Cars. Manfred Döss, Chair of the Audi Supervisory Board, noted Sander’s deep familiarity with Audi and his broad industry experience, while Audi CEO Gernot Döllner highlighted his international expertise and strong network within the Volkswagen Group.
In his new role starting October 1, 2026, Sander oversees the global Sales and Marketing divisions for the Four Rings and serves as a member of the Extended Executive Committee of the Volkswagen Group, responsible for its sales.
Marco Schubert’s Transition to North America
Concurrently, Marco Schubert will transition from his current Sales and Marketing position at Audi to a new role focusing on the North American region. Schubert has served on Audi’s Board of Management since September 2024, during which time Gernot Döllner acknowledged his efforts in realigning the sales strategy and setting strategic directions for the business in China, including the launch of a new sister brand.
In his new capacity, Schubert will manage overall operations for North America as a member of the Extended Executive Committee of the Volkswagen Group, reporting directly to Group CEO Oliver Blume.
