“Not Allowed to Laugh at⁢ the Cabin” Star Martin Lipperød Stepped Away From Show for Daughter‘s⁢ Birth

OSLO, Norway – ⁣Comedian Martin ⁣Lipperød abruptly departed the popular Norwegian television program “Not‌ allowed to laugh at the cabin” (“Ikke lov å ‍le på hytta”) to be present for the birth of his daughter, a decision that resonated with fellow comedian Lars Berrum, who recently became a father himself. Lipperød’s unexpected⁤ exit mid-recording sparked discussion about⁣ the demands‌ of parenthood and‌ the challenges of balancing professional commitments with family life.

The incident underscores ⁣a growing conversation within the entertainment industry regarding work-life⁤ balance, especially for those with ⁣unpredictable schedules like those involved in live comedy and television production. Lipperød’s choice highlights the prioritization of family, even amidst career obligations, and ⁣has prompted reflection among colleagues about the ‌pressures faced by working parents. The show, known for its improvisational humor and demanding format,⁢ will continue without Lipperød for the remainder of the season.

Berrum, who experienced a similar emotional response upon learning ⁢of his own child’s impending arrival, empathized with⁣ Lipperød’s situation. “I don’t know ‍if I’m ⁤a good or bad father, but ‌I know I would have been worse without nursing,” Berrum stated, drawing a parallel between the ‌support he received⁢ and the essential role of family.⁤ He further described a feeling of inescapable obligation, stating, “Just like when you make a covenant with the devil, a covenant with the nursing will be something you don’t ⁢get rid of. ‌It catches you up. It shouts when you no longer know your subject.”

According to Berrum, he briefly⁣ encountered Lipperød at the premiere of “Book of Mormon,” describing the‌ atmosphere as “wierd.” He recounted ⁢asking Lipperød if things ⁣were going well, to which Lipperød responded with a questioning “is it going well?” Berrum⁣ noted a possible “tension” between the two comedians, adding with a laugh, ‍”So maybe it’s a⁤ tension between ⁢me and Lip.”

The photograph accompanying the report, taken by Martin Habbestad of⁢ Nettavisen, shows Berrum and includes the caption: “Dad: Lars Berrum himself became a dad recently and says he felt with Lepperød at the moment he got the news.”
