Marquez Shifts Focus​ to 2026 Preparation, ​Declines involvement in Bagnaia-Marquez Championship Battle

Marc Marquez is prioritizing ⁢a safe and ‍consistent finish to the 2024 MotoGP season as he⁣ builds towards the 2026 campaign, stating he ⁤”feel[s] that I have to finish⁤ the year ⁤without hurting me.” The Ducati rider, speaking after the Japanese Grand ‌Prix, revealed a change in mindset from previous​ years where‍ he’d‍ focus on maximizing ‍wins after‍ securing a title.‍ “In the past I thought‍ ‘I have already​ conquered the ​title,‍ now ⁣I will try to win as much races possible,'” Marquez⁢ explained.”now‍ rather… I no longer want to put pressure on me,⁤ I‍ have already had‍ enough in recent years.”

Marquez emphasized a data-gathering approach for ⁣the​ remaining races,‍ aiming⁤ to better⁢ understand adjustments made⁣ throughout the year. ⁢”We​ must ‍study and understand​ the things that have been ‍tried during ⁣the‌ year… it is better to start already on the race weekends on different circuits,” he said,‍ clarifying this wouldn’t involve‌ constant bike changes⁢ but “small but concrete‌ things” to⁢ prepare ​for the final test ⁢in Valencia and subsequent improvements ⁢for the 2025 season.

Regarding the battle for second place in‌ the championship between teammate Pecco Bagnaia and⁤ his​ brother, Alex marquez (Gresini ‍Racing), the #93 ⁤rider asserted he would⁢ remain⁤ neutral. “I won’t get to intake in this matter,”​ Marquez stated. “Everyone​ will do ‍their job… I will give 100% and if I have to manage the situation… I will do it only to get the maximum result for‌ myself.” He believes​ Alex possesses ⁣the speed to secure the​ position ‍independently, adding, “Having ‍said that, the ‍normal thing would⁣ be that Pecco is second‌ in the championship five ⁣races ⁢from the⁢ end.” ⁢Marquez also noted that if Alex were to finish third overall with the Gresini team, it would equal his own 2024 result with a satellite team ‌and a previous-year ​motorcycle.
