The Seattle Mariners showcased two of their top prospects, Cole Young and Harry Ford, in their first spring training lineup on Thursday, according to reports from The Seattle Times and the Union-Bulletin.

Shortstop Cole Young, ranked as the Mariners’ No. 4 prospect by MLB.com, batted leadoff. Catcher Harry Ford, the Mariners’ No. 6 prospect, was slotted sixth in the lineup. The inclusion of both players in the opening spring training game signals their potential for significant roles in the upcoming season.

Even as the lineup featured the highly anticipated debuts of Young and Ford, the first spring training game also highlighted the continued development of outfielder Luke Raley, whose presence in the lineup was noted by Sodo Mojo. Raley was acquired by the Mariners in the offseason and is expected to compete for playing time in the outfield.

The Mariners’ spring training camp is focused on evaluating both established players and emerging prospects, as the team prepares for the 2026 season. MLB.com identified Young and Ford as key players to watch during camp, alongside other new additions to the roster. The team is assessing their readiness for potential contributions at the major league level.

The Mariners open their regular season on March 26th against the Texas Rangers. Further spring training games are scheduled throughout February and March, providing additional opportunities to evaluate player performance and finalize the team’s roster.
