A four-run sixth inning propelled Seattle to victory, solidifying their position atop the Major League Baseball standings in the second half of the season.
This win elevates Seattle’s record to an notable 17-6 as the midsummer classic – the best record in MLB during that span - and further strengthens their playoff aspirations. The Cardinals, meanwhile, remain in contention but face an uphill battle as they navigate a crowded National League Wild Card race. The two teams will meet again tomorrow night in the second of their three-game series.The Mariners initially fell behind after alec Burleson launched his 17th home run of the season, a two-run shot in the fourth inning, giving St. louis a 2-0 advantage. However,Seattle responded in the sixth,sparked by a leadoff walk from Leo Rivas after a grueling nine-pitch at-bat against Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas.
Following rivas’ walk, Randy Arozarena singled, and Cal Raleigh was issued a walk on four pitches, setting the stage for julio Rodríguez, who drove in a run with an RBI single.
