A year after winning the French singing competition Star Academy, Marine Delplace is enjoying a period of sustained success. Her debut album, Cœur maladroit, has achieved platinum certification, and she recently received the NRJ Music Award for Francophone Female Revelation of the Year.
The album features collaborations with two prominent French musicians: Eddy de Pretto and Julien Doré. De Pretto penned two tracks on Cœur maladroit, “Fille ordinaire” and “Restes d’averses.” “Restes d’averses” was notably selected for the soundtrack of the American film Regretting You, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel, released in October 2025.
Delplace’s connection with de Pretto began during her time on Star Academy, when she boldly approached him with a request for a collaboration at a gala for the Sidaction charity. According to de Pretto, he was initially unfamiliar with her performance on the show, but was struck by her song “Fille ordinaire,” stating it captured his impression of her. He subsequently wrote the song specifically for her.
More recently, Delplace has spoken about her developing rapport with Julien Doré, which also originated during Star Academy. Doré visited the show to conduct a masterclass, during which Delplace shared that she had performed his song “Sublime et Silence” for a music exam. The two musicians spontaneously performed the song together on piano.
Delplace has since joined Doré onstage twice during his Zenith concerts in Lille in March 2025, reprising their performance of “Sublime et Silence.” She described the experience as “intense” and the most powerful she’d felt since leaving the Star Academy set. In September 2025, during an appearance on the French television program C à vous, Delplace publicly expressed her desire for a future collaboration with Doré, echoing the direct approach she took with de Pretto.
