Marilyn Monroe Documentary: Air Date & How to Watch on ARTE
A documentary examining the life of Marilyn Monroe will air on ARTE television on April 6, 2026, at 10:40 PM. The film, titled “Marilyn Monroe, la célébrité à tout prix” (Marilyn Monroe, fame at all costs), arrives as the world prepares to mark the centennial of the actress’s birth.
The upcoming broadcast coincides with a yearlong series of events commemorating Monroe’s 100th birthday. British American artist Russell Young is leading “MARILYN 100,” an artistic program developed in collaboration with the Marilyn Monroe Estate and Authentic Brands Group. The initiative launched in December 2025 with exhibitions at Art Miami and Art Basel Miami, showcasing new paintings and rare works by Young.
Monroe’s enduring image has been a subject of artistic interpretation for decades, notably through Andy Warhol’s 1962 Marilyn Diptych. According to a recent post on Instagram, Monroe “may be the most reinterpreted woman in art history,” a phenomenon that reflects current trends in the art market.
The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will also host an exhibition, “Marilyn Monroe: Hollywood Icon,” in 2026. The exhibition will honor the actress’s legacy and contribution to cinema.
Artist Carmen Luna’s oil painting, “15-Expressions of Carmen Luna. Marilyn Monroe,” was highlighted on Facebook on January 1, 2026, as part of the centennial celebrations. Young’s function, utilizing silk screen techniques reminiscent of Warhol’s, explores the context of Monroe’s fame within a period marked by significant global events, including the Vietnam War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
