Polish actress Maria Seweryn has spoken publicly about the challenges she faced during her acting studies, revealing a period of significant self-doubt and insecurity. The daughter of prominent actors Krystyna Janda and Andrzej Seweryn, Seweryn, known for her work in both television and theatre, described her time in acting school as a “nightmare” in a recent interview on Polish Radio Jedynka’s “Wywiad rzeka” program.

Seweryn’s comments centered not on any specific mistreatment or boundary violations, but on an internal struggle to justify her presence in the program and her chosen profession. “It wasn’t as I was harmed, someone violated my privacy or my boundaries, but because I was constantly wondering if I was doing the right thing, if I was in the right place, if I had made the right decision, if I should be an actress,” she stated, adding that she was plagued by “a lot of uncertainty, anxiety, and shame.”

The actress, who is raising three children as a single mother, also reflected on the difficulties of balancing motherhood with a demanding career. She acknowledged the societal pressures on women to “not repeat certain patterns” from past relationships whereas simultaneously navigating the practical realities of single parenthood. “From the perspective of a woman raising three children alone, I can say that It’s impossible to combine being a mother with very intense work and professional development,” she told Plejada magazine. “It is impossible, although many women believe otherwise in order to survive.”

Seweryn’s personal life has frequently been the subject of media attention, a dynamic she appears to accept as part of her public profile. She has two children from her 12-year marriage to Robert Jaworski and one daughter with Igor Dzięrzecki, both relationships ending in separation.
