Marcos Declares Special Non-Working Holidays in Five Localities
President Marcos has issued several proclamations declaring special non-working days across various municipalities in the Philippines to facilitate local commemorations and founding anniversaries. These declarations, spanning dates in January and April, grant residents in the affected jurisdictions a break from work to participate in civic and cultural events.
April Holiday Schedule
According to Malacañang, five areas in Luzon have been granted special non-working days in April to accommodate local festivities.
- Tarlac City, Tarlac: April 20 is designated a special non-working day for the city’s 28th Charter anniversary. While the actual anniversary falls on April 19, a Sunday, the city government requested the holiday be moved to the following day, as noted in Proclamation 1207.
- Alfonso Castañeda, Nueva Vizcaya: Proclamation 1208 establishes April 20 as a special non-working day for the town’s founding anniversary.
- Plaridel, Bulacan: April 23 is set aside under Proclamation 1209 to observe the Battle of Quingua, a significant engagement during the Philippine-American War.
- Infanta, Quezon: Proclamation 1210 declares April 25 a special non-working day to mark the town’s founding anniversary.
- Nueva Ecija: The entire province will observe a special non-working day on April 25 for its founding anniversary, as authorized by Proclamation 1211.
January Commemorations
President Marcos issued five proclamations for local holidays throughout January to support regional celebrations.
- Calubian, Leyte: January 8 was declared a special non-working day for the town’s founding anniversary under Proclamation 1124.
- Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur: Residents observed a special non-working day on January 19 for the Pasalamat Festival, per Proclamation 1123.
- Lipa City, Batangas: Proclamation 1120 designated January 20 as a special non-working day to coincide with the city’s Coffee Festival.
- Bulacan: January 23 was marked as a special non-working day to commemorate the inauguration anniversary of the First Philippine Republic, as established by Proclamation 1122.
- Carigara, Leyte: The town celebrated its 455th founding anniversary on January 26, which was declared a special non-working day under Proclamation 1121.
