A503 Access in Marcinelle to Close for Roadwork This Week
Marcinelle, Belgium – Drivers in Marcinelle should prepare for notable disruptions this week as the Walloon Region begins roadwork on Avenue Mascaux, necessitating the closure of access and exit ramps for the A503 motorway. The project, commencing this Tuesday, October 21, aims to resurface the avenue between Rue des Cerisiers and Rue de la Bruyère.
The roadwork is scheduled during the school holidays to minimize traffic impact. The closure is expected to last until Friday, October 24, though completion is subject to favorable weather conditions and the smooth coordination of construction phases. Motorists will be directed to follow detour routes during the closure.
Specifically, drivers exiting or entering the A503 will be diverted onto the R3, with options to head towards Mont-sur-Marchienne or Châtelet. Those approaching from Rue des Cerisiers are advised to take the N53 (Rue de Bomerée) to connect with the R3 at interchange 5 “Beaumont.” Access to Rue de Bruyère will remain open, with drivers directed to use Rue André Vésale or Rue des hiercheuses as alternative routes.
