‘Canticle of the Mountain’ Festival Celebrates Art, Poetry & Regional Identity in Le Marche, Italy
Montefortino, Italy – The inaugural ‘Canticle of the Mountain’ Festival concluded successfully, weaving a vibrant tapestry of art, poetry, music, and theater across the municipalities of Smerillo, Montefalcone Appennino, and Montefortino in Italy’s Le Marche region. The festival, a component of the larger ‘Marche Storie’ Festival, was artistically directed by actor and voice actor Luca Violini and musician/composer Giovanni seneca, and organized by mediadux agency.
The multidisciplinary event drew a diverse range of artists and attendees, celebrating both established and emerging talent.Writer and poet Alessandro Pertosa offered a compelling performance of ‘Canticle of Creatures’ in commemoration of the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis’s work. Pertosa also spearheaded the ‘Atelier of Poetry,’ featuring readings and discussions with poets Luca capponi, Alessandra Addari, and Luca Campana.
Further enriching the program, actress Rosetta Martellini presented a unique “Jukebox of Poetry,” while Luca Violini, accompanied by Roberto Lucanero on the accordion, delivered a heartwarming performance of ‘Nozze in Campagna’ – a tribute to the region’s cherished folk traditions. Lucanero also showcased the rich musical heritage of Le Marche with two performances titled ‘Ancient sounds, Living Steps,’ exploring traditional music with accordion, guitar, and mandolin, both as a soloist and alongside Antonio Stragapede.
Visual arts were also prominently featured, with an exhibition of paintings on canvas and jute by Sonia Sciamanna, thoughtfully paired with poetry by Adriano mecozzi.
The festival culminated in the ‘poetic Map of the Territories’ competition, its first edition centered on the theme “The place that feels mine.” The competition invited poets to reflect on the landscapes, culture, memories, and natural beauty of the region. A technical jury selected Patrizia Natalini as the first-place winner,followed by Maurizio Di Ferdinando in second,and Eugenio Lampacrescia in third.
The ‘Canticle of the Mountain’ Festival demonstrated a powerful commitment to showcasing the artistic and cultural richness of Le Marche, fostering a sense of place and community thru the power of creative expression.
