Marathon: How to Complete the Intercept Event Guide
A complex, multi-stage event called “Intercept” is currently challenging players within the sci-fi extraction shooter Marathon, requiring both hacking skills and swift action to secure valuable loot. The event, active on both the Perimeter and Outpost maps, presents a unique puzzle element alongside the game’s core combat mechanics.
When the Intercept event initiates, players are directed to a primary terminal for hacking. Successfully breaching this terminal reveals a three-digit code. Players must then locate a secondary terminal displaying the identical code within the immediate area. According to player reports on Reddit, the code is typically three digits long.
Incorrectly interacting with a terminal resets the process, forcing players to re-hack the initial terminal and begin the search anew. This adds a layer of risk and time pressure to the event. Once the correct terminal is activated, it generates a “Decrypted Coordinates” datapad, updating the player’s HUD with a modern objective point.
On the Perimeter map, this objective often leads to Overflow, although the location varies on Outpost. At the designated point of interest, players must locate and hack a final access terminal. This triggers the arrival of a UESC dropship, unleashing a wave of enemies.
Players must then eliminate all hostiles and shoot down the shipment released from the UESC carrier to access the container and claim the reward. The event is time-sensitive, demanding both combat proficiency and quick reflexes. A particularly valuable item to secure during the Intercept event is the “UESC Crisis Supplies,” which grants a significant boost to CyberAcme reputation upon extraction, according to a recent event guide.
The Intercept event is one of several in-run events available in Marathon, alongside Lockdown and Convoy, each offering unique challenges and rewards across the game’s three maps: Perimeter, Dire Marsh, and Outpost. The Outpost map, known for its chaotic gameplay and the locked Pinwheel area, is considered the most challenging, while Perimeter serves as the introductory map for new players.
