Maragas Winery to⁣ Host Pair of Events Benefitting NeighborImpact

CULVER, ore. – Maragas Winery in ‍Culver is once again partnering ‍with NeighborImpact this winter, hosting two annual events aimed at supporting local food banks in Central ‌Oregon. The winery’s longstanding ⁣tradition of giving back will unfold with a special wine tasting this Saturday and a⁤ Christmas⁣ Eve open house.

On Saturday, ⁢December 9th, from ‌noon to 6 p.m., Maragas Winery will hold a wine tasting in its tasting room located at 15523 S.W. Highway 97. Admission is ‍$20, with $5 from each ⁤ticket directly benefiting NeighborImpact. Attendees will have the chance to sample nine ‌wines, guided by winemaker Doug Maragas, including five ⁢vintage wines,⁢ two from the barrel, and three bottled selections.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to pretend they’re ⁣a ‍winemaker if they’re not,and experience what ⁢we experience,” Maragas said.

The‌ winery will ‌also host its annual ⁣Christmas Eve open house on December 24th ‍from 11:30⁣ a.m. to 2:30 p.m., benefiting NeighborImpact. For every $10 donated, Maragas Winery⁣ will contribute an additional⁣ $5 to the organization. ⁢The event will feature live music performed by Maragas’ ‌daughter, ⁤a ‌student at a performing‍ arts ‌conservatory in Pennsylvania.Donors ‍will receive a cup of mulled wine and spiced popcorn.

maragas Winery is⁢ accepting monetary donations only, to allow ⁣NeighborImpact to purchase the most needed⁣ food items. “It’s better for them to get cash⁢ donations because they have a better ability to‌ buy the⁢ type of food that’s needed,” Maragas explained.

These‍ fundraising‍ events have been a tradition for approximately 20 years, reflecting Maragas Winery’s commitment to the local community. “Maragas ‌Winery, we feel pretty blessed that we’re able to do what we do,” Maragas said. “Put yourself in ⁤their shoes, you want to be treated ‌well and have the resources to be able to still afford decent things so that you can live a decent life. That’s where⁣ the giving ‌back to the community, for⁢ most people, comes from. I know it ‌does for us, and that’s why our focus is local.”
