According to court testimony reported by Daily Maverick and EWN, the witness detailed how Mapisa-Nqakula allegedly solicited financial kickbacks and business opportunities tied to state procurement. The proceedings revealed that a substantial defence tender was offered as a form of compensation during her tenure, alongside direct cash payments totaling hundreds of thousands of rands following the successful landing of the R79 million deal.
