Manulife to Acquire Schroder’s Indonesian Asset Management Business

British investment firm Schroders Indonesia is exiting the Indonesian market, with state-owned insurer Mami taking over its assets. mami currently manages Rp101.7 trillion and serves over 2.5 million customers.As of June 2025, Schroders Indonesia oversaw funds exceeding Rp56 trillion.

The acquisition signifies a consolidation within Indonesia’s asset management sector, driven by government policy and market dynamics. This move allows Mami to substantially expand its assets under management and customer base,strengthening its position as a leading domestic financial institution. The transaction’s details, including financial terms and the precise timeline, remain undisclosed as of May 8, 2025.

The deal comes amid increasing Indonesian government efforts to bolster state-owned enterprises and promote national control over key economic sectors.
