Manisha Priyadarshini: 3 overlooked Peacock series to binge October 9-11

Peacock Weekend Watchlist Features Werewolf Romance, True-Crime Drama, and Teen Mystery for October 9-11

As the October 9-11 weekend begins, streaming catalogs continue expanding with dozens of new titles, prompting entertainment writers to filter through the noise for notable options. Manisha Priyadarshini reported that Peacock hosts three distinct overlooked series worth streaming this weekend: a supernatural dark comedy, a harrowing true-crime adaptation, and a fast-paced high school whodunit.

The Tech TL;DR:
• Peacock’s current weekend lineup highlights three distinct serialized dramas and comedies available for continuous streaming.
• The curated slate spans a supernatural romance starring Josh Gad and Isla Fisher, a true-crime adaptation examining psychological manipulation, and a teen murder mystery.
• Viewers seeking alternate platforms can find separate weekend roundups covering hidden film gems on Hulu.

Wolf Like Me Uses Supernatural Premise to Explore Grief

The dark comedy and supernatural romance series Wolf Like Me ran from 2022 to 2024 on Peacock. Gary, played by Josh Gad, is a widowed father attempting to reenter the dating pool. He encounters Mary, played by Isla Fisher, who conceals a dangerous werewolf curse. Their immediate connection faces the ultimate stress test of a full moon disrupting their lives. The production utilizes genre chaos to examine grief, trust, and the difficulty of opening up following personal loss. Priyadarshini noted the magnetic chemistry between Fisher and Gad, observing that short half-hour episodes keep the narrative crisp, unpredictable, and tender.

A Friend of the Family Unpacks Grooming and Manipulation

The 2022 true-crime drama mini-series A Friend of the Family chronicles the experiences of Jan Broberg, a teenager whose family befriended a charming neighbor named Robert Berchtold, played by Jake Lacy. Berchtold spent years manipulating his way into her life under the guise of a trusted family friend. The program illustrates how predators can embed themselves deep inside a community while obvious warning signs remain ignored. Priyadarshini described Jake Lacy’s performance as chilling and charming, noting that the series sheds light on psychological brainwashing and grooming in plain sight.

One of Us Is Lying Delivers Fast-Paced Teen Mystery

The 2021 crime, mystery, and drama series One of Us Is Lying centers on five students who enter detention, leaving only four alive after Simon, played by Mark McKenna, dies from an allergic reaction identified as murder. The remaining teenagers—Bronwyn, played by Annalisa Cochrane; Addy, played by Cooper van Grootel; Nate, played by Chibuikem Uche; and Cooper, played by Chibuikem Uche’s castmate Jess Adams—become prime suspects. The narrative uncovers buried secrets and forces characters to confront their own falsehoods while shifting viewer suspicions across episodes.
