Manchester United Will Not force Player Departures, Manager Amorim States
Manchester, England – Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has affirmed teh club’s priority lies in retaining players who contribute to the team’s success, indicating that potential departures of key squad members like Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua zirkzee will only be considered if it benefits the club’s overall interests. The statement comes amid speculation surrounding player movement ahead of potential transfer windows.
Amorim emphasized that individual player ambitions, such as securing a place in the upcoming World Cup, will be secondary to the needs of Manchester United. “The first thing is that the club comes first, so we have to think about the club and the team, and then everything can happen,” Amorim said. “I want my players to be happy…but Manchester United comes first. So if I can help the club and the players, I will be happy, if not I have to think about the team.” This approach signals a firm stance against allowing players to leave simply to accommodate their personal desires.
The manager also addressed concerns regarding the performance of summer signing Manuel Ugarte, acknowledging the Uruguayan midfielder is “struggling” to adapt to the Premier League after joining from Sporting CP, where Amorim previously coached him. Ugarte’s dip in form has placed increased responsibility on veteran Casemiro, age 33, and bruno Fernandes in central midfield.
amorim noted the challenges faced by players transitioning to the Premier League, stating, “You can sense that a lot of very good players come here, and sometimes they struggle.” He added his commitment to supporting Ugarte’s development, saying, “My job is trying to help him to feel as a player, like I felt when he was a sporting player.”
Looking ahead, Manchester United are expected to pursue at least one additional central midfielder in the next transfer window to bolster the squad’s depth in that position.
