Manchester United Deserved too Lose to Everton, Claims Disappointed Manager Ruben Amorim
MANCHESTER, England – Manchester United manager Ruben amorim conceded his team “deserved to lose” following a frustrating defeat to Everton, despite teh opposition playing with ten men for a significant portion of the match. The result leaves United struggling to climb the Premier League table.
Everton withstood late pressure, with Jordan Pickford making a save to deny Joshua Zirkzee. Amorim expressed his disappointment with his team’s performance, stating, “Frustration, disappointment about the way we played the game. They were the better team, with 11 they defend really well for 70 minutes with 10 men.”
Amorim criticized his team’s intensity,adding,”We didn’t play well,we didn’t play with the right intensity. We talk about this a lot [about what went wrong], I know wich point we are at the moment, I have that feeling during this run.” he emphasized they are “not even near the point we should be to fight for the best positions in the league,” and need to be “perfect to win games,” something they were not against Everton.
The manager acknowledged a need to improve consistency, saying, “We need to find a way…we show and then it is one game by week.” He highlighted the importance of capitalizing on opportunities, particularly after Everton’s red card, stating, “20 minutes in the game, red card for opponent, we need to win that, no matter what.”
Amorim took responsibility for the team’s shortcomings, clarifying it wasn’t down to individual errors. “Today, it is not one mistake of one individual,” he said.He also expressed concern about a return to the struggles of the previous season, stating, ”I feel afraid of returning this feeling of last season…we need to work together and we need to be better.”
Despite expectations of betterment, Amorim reiterated, “These five weeks, everyone was praising our evolution, and I am always saying the same things, we are not near.”
Manchester United’s next fixture is an away match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
