Man Arrested in Turkey Over 2020 Moss Side Double Murder in Manchester

October 11, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in Turkey and transported back to England on suspicion of the 2020 Moss Side double murder of Junior Ajose and Cheriff Tall, Greater Manchester Police reported.

The suspect was detained abroad and flown to Stansted Airport on Saturday, October 10.

The Fatal Shootings on Caythorpe Street

The arrest marks a major development in the investigation into the fatal shootings. The attack took place in the early hours of June 21, 2020, during a lockdown gathering in a car park off Caythorpe Street in Manchester.

Junior Ajose, 36, and Cheriff Tall, 21, did not know each other. Both men were shot in the head shortly before 1:00 BST and later died in hospital.

The shooter then killed Mr Ajose approximately 20 seconds later when he stepped in as a Good Samaritan.

Detectives estimate that between 300 and 400 people were present in the car park on the night of the shooting. Over the past six years, the Greater Manchester Police Major Incident Team has executed multiple warrants, analyzed seized electronic devices, and questioned several individuals.

Active Investigation and £50,000 Reward

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson stated that the recent arrest demonstrates the force’s unwavering commitment to securing justice for the victims and their families. However, authorities emphasize that the investigation remains active.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses who were present at the scene to come forward. Investigators note that key information likely remains within the community.

A £50,000 reward remains available for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of anyone else responsible for the murders.
