Man Arrested After Woman’s Murder in Clifden, Co. Galway – Shocking Details
Gardaí have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a woman’s body in Clifden, County Galway, on Thursday. The woman, aged in her 30s, was found with fatal injuries consistent with a stabbing attack.
Emergency services were called to a residential location in the town, which is situated near a centre for asylum seekers. The scene was preserved by authorities to allow for a forensic and technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
A man, also aged in his 30s, was arrested by Gardaí in connection with the incident. He is currently being detained at a Garda station in the Galway region under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. This legislation allows for the detention of a suspect for questioning for a period of up to 24 hours, excluding certain rest periods.
The office of the State Pathologist has been notified, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted by the Chief State Pathologist. The results of this examination will determine the course of the ongoing investigation.
