Man arrested after entering Marius Borg Høiby’s home at Skaugum
Security Breach at Skaugum Residence
A man was arrested by the Norwegian intelligence service PST near the home of Marius Borg Høiby on November 7, 2026. According to Høiby’s lawyer, the man entered the home and pushed him. PST spokesperson Eirik Veum confirmed the arrest to Agence France-Presse.
The incident occurred at the Skaugum estate where Høiby has been serving his sentence under house arrest. King Haakon and Queen Mette-Marit were reportedly at home just a few hundred meters away at the time.

Appellate Court Orders Continued Detention Pending Appeal
Høiby, the 29-year-old son of Queen Mette-Marit, has been confined to the royal residence under electronic monitoring since July 2026. In June 2026, the Oslo court sentenced him to four years in prison for two counts of rape, assault against a former girlfriend, and 32 other offenses, though he was acquitted of two additional rape allegations. His defense team entered a partial appeal, with proceedings scheduled for February 2027.
The Court of Appeal ruled on November 5, 2026, that Høiby must remain detained rather than being released. Police prosecutor Oda Karterud said a breathalyzer test showed that the 29-year-old had alcohol in his body and argued that the alcohol use violated the house-arrest conditions and demonstrated a risk of reoffending, a position the court accepted. Daniel Storrvik, attorney for Høiby, disputed the alcohol accusation and argued that his client had made significant progress over sixteen weeks, describing the detention conditions as unbearable.

Earlier in November, prosecutors sought a four-week extension of his provisional detention. The defense planned to present an unnamed secret witness behind closed doors. Alexander Greaker, Høiby’s lawyer, maintained that there was no reason to keep him detained and pointed to the heavy conditions.
Attorney Describes Home Intrusion as Unsafe and Unpleasant
Regarding the November 7 incident, attorney Alexander Greaker told the Norwegian magazine Se og Hør that Høiby experienced the home intrusion as unpleasant and unsafe. Høiby has experienced it as unpleasant and unsafe that he was sought out at home, in a place where he must be able to feel safe,
Greaker stated.
