Magnus Plessen’s “Your Face in My Hands” Opens at WENTRUP Gallery in Berlin
Berlin’s WENTRUP gallery will present “Dein Gesicht in meinen Händen” (Your Face in My Hands),the first solo exhibition of new work by artist Magnus Plessen,beginning September 12,2025,with a vernissage on September 11th. The exhibition explores themes of memory, perception, and familial reckoning through layered oil and charcoal paintings.
Plessen’s latest body of work was profoundly shaped by the recent loss of his father and a subsequent revisiting of ancestral portraits from his childhood. This personal experience has resulted in paintings that oscillate between abstraction and figuration, transforming intimate memories into tactile and evocative images. The exhibition offers a compelling look into the artist’s process of navigating grief and heritage, resonating with audiences interested in contemporary explorations of identity and the power of visual storytelling.
The exhibition will be on view through November 1, 2025.
