Magnetic Balls: The Truth Big Magnet Hides | Fun-Enthusiasm6203

February 28, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

A growing online discussion alleges irregularities in the net used during recent matches at the Acapulco tennis tournament. The claims, circulating on platforms like Reddit, center on the behavior of tennis balls impacting the net, with some users suggesting the net possesses magnetic properties.

The initial observations, posted on the r/tennis subreddit, describe balls consistently rolling over the net after contact, rather than bouncing normally. One user, posting under the handle Fun-Enthusiasm6203, stated, “Magnetic balls. Always hit and roll over. Big Magnet doesn’t want you to know.” This comment has fueled speculation about deliberate manipulation of the playing conditions.

Whereas the precise nature of the alleged manipulation remains unclear, the discussion points to a potential attempt to influence match outcomes. The claims have gained traction among some tennis fans, prompting calls for investigation into the equipment used at the tournament.

The allegations surface amid broader concerns regarding player safety and fair play within the sport. In November 2025, tennis player Eva Lys publicly voiced concerns about “obsessed” fans tracking her hotel locations, highlighting a growing issue of player security. Fun-Enthusiasm6203, the user who initially raised the magnetic net claim, also commented on Lys’s situation, suggesting a pattern of unusual events within the professional tennis circuit.

Amazon.de lists a variety of magnetic ball toys, including silicone magnetic fidget toys and sensory magnetic ball sets, demonstrating the availability of such products. Yet, there is no evidence linking these products to the Acapulco tournament or the alleged net manipulation.

Tournament officials have not yet issued a statement addressing the claims. The WTA, the governing body of women’s professional tennis, has remained silent on the matter. No independent investigation has been announced as of February 28, 2026.
