Macklin Celebrini Urges San Jose Sharks to Fix Consistency Issues

November 5, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

San Jose Sharks captain Macklin Celebrini recorded his sixth goal of the 2026-27 season in a recent loss, ending a six-game scoring drought that had persisted since his multi-goal performance against the Montreal Canadiens on October 20. The team currently sits outside the Western Conference playoff picture with 15 points, struggling to regain the momentum that saw them finish just four points shy of a wildcard berth last season.

The franchise is facing a period of inconsistency in the early stages of the season. Celebrini, who now holds 76 career goals—placing him third among active players under 21 behind only Steven Stamkos and Sidney Crosby—acknowledged the internal frustration within the locker room. “I think that’s a private matter, but it’s clear things aren’t going well right now, and we need to find a way to fix it,” Celebrini stated. He emphasized that the group remains committed to each other despite the current slump, adding, “We can’t let the frustration show in our play, but we also can’t be satisfied with the way we’re playing.”

Addressing Tactical Disconnects

Head coach Ryan Warsofsky identified the team’s primary hurdle as a lack of fundamental consistency. While the Sharks are currently outputting a high volume of effort, the tactical execution has failed to translate into consistent wins. “Se trata de algunos problemas de consistencia, cosas de las que ya hemos hablado. Estamos un poco desconectados,” Warsofsky noted. He maintains that both the coaching staff and the roster are working to rectify these issues, emphasizing that the current performance trajectory is not a result of insufficient effort.

Looking ahead, the Sharks are tasked with turning their recent positive indicators into tangible results on the ice. As the season progresses, the focus for the coaching staff remains on correcting the specific areas of play that have led to the current disconnection.
