Lyon Elections 2026: Live Results & Updates
Pierre-Jean Zannettacci has been re-elected as mayor of L’Arbresle, a commune in the Rhône department of eastern France, securing 58.8% of the vote in the second round of municipal elections. His opponent, Sheila McCarron, received 41.2% of the votes, according to results reported Sunday evening.
The outcome in L’Arbresle is one of several reported across the Rhône department as voting concluded and initial results emerged. In Amplepuis, Didier Fournel, who previously served as mayor from 2008 to 2014, has been elected with 53.59% of the vote, defeating Eric Lacroix and Alexis Garcia. Pascal Girin won the mayoral race in Limas, garnering 48.8% of the votes, followed by Gilles Bouvanten and Véronique Grondin.
In Thizy-les-Bourgs, Rémi Berthoux, representing an alliance supported by the Rassemblement National, emerged victorious with 46.4% of the vote. The results indicate a varied political landscape across the smaller communes of the Rhône department.
The election in Vaulx-en-Velin has been marked by controversy, with ballots cast for candidate Christine Bertin being declared invalid. This decision stems from the presence of a Dutch national on her electoral list, leading to the disqualification of those votes while the overall count continues.
In Lyon, the second round of municipal elections saw a participation rate of 64.48% by 7:00 PM Sunday, slightly lower than the 65.29% recorded at the same time during the first round the previous week. Overall participation in the first round reached 64.52% in Lyon, exceeding the national average of 57.1%, which was historically low.
The mayoral contest in Lyon narrowed to a head-to-head race between incumbent Grégory Doucet and Jean-Michel Aulas after the first round. Anaïs Belouassa-Cherifi, who initially secured a place in the second round, subsequently merged her list with that of Doucet, consolidating the opposition against Aulas. Supporters of Grégory Doucet gathered at his campaign headquarters awaiting the results.
Pierre-Jean Zannettacci, the re-elected mayor of L’Arbresle, has a term extending through 2026, having been first elected in 2020, according to web sources. L’Arbresle, located in the Villefranche-sur-Saône arrondissement, has a population of 6,537 as of 2023.
