Lykke Li – Lucky Again: New Single & The Afterparty Album Details

by Emma Walker – News Editor

Swedish singer Lykke Li released her modern single, “Lucky Again,” on February 13, signaling the forthcoming arrival of her first album in four years, The Afterparty, scheduled for release on May 8 via Neon Gold/Futures✦. The nine-track, 24-minute project was conceived in Los Angeles and ultimately recorded in Stockholm, featuring a 17-piece string orchestra and extensive use of the flute.

The song incorporates a sample from Max Richter’s reimagining of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, a choice Li describes as representing “samsara in a song,” – the cyclical nature of life, encompassing winning, losing, and the desire for renewal. “I always said I wanted the Vivaldi song at my wedding or funeral but I think this is giving more revenge heist energy,” she stated.

The Afterparty sees Li adopting an alter ego, which she characterizes as “Ram Dass for fuckboys,” a deliberate departure from the focus on self-improvement prevalent in contemporary discourse. “I find that we’re in an era where everyone is talking about ‘my higher self.’ Fuck that,” Li explained. “This is an album dealing with your lower self: your need for revenge, your shame, despair, all of it.”

The new album marks a thematic shift from Li’s previous work, which she describes as centered on “love addiction.” She now frames The Afterparty as an exploration of “my existential era.”

Having last performed live in April 2023, Li is set to return to the stage at Coachella in Indio, California on April 10. Additional tour dates include a performance in Rio de Janeiro on May 22, Prague’s Metronome Festival on June 19, a shared bill with Wolf Alice at London’s Finsbury Park on July 5, a headline slot at the Pohoda Festival in Slovakia on July 10, and an opening set for Robyn in Mexico City on September 19.

The increasing integration of user-generated content (UGC) and eyewitness media into newsrooms requires a strategic approach from senior editors, according to the Al Jazeera Media Institute. Successful organizations prioritize establishing clear processes and policies tailored to social newsgathering, particularly in rapidly evolving situations. Without such protocols, newsrooms risk inaccuracies and damage to their credibility.

The role of a Senior Editor extends beyond individual editorial tasks to encompass team leadership and the enforcement of consistent standards, as outlined in a job description template from Manatal. Responsibilities include providing guidance to editors, developing editorial guidelines, and ensuring content accuracy and alignment with company objectives.
