
Los Angeles, CA – A transition in leadership is underway at the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles, with incoming Deputy Consul General Naoshige Aoshima poised to continue a strong partnership with the local Nikkei community.The change follows the departure of Consul General Kenko Sone and his wife, Mami Sone, who have concluded their service.
The outgoing Consul General Sone and his team are credited with establishing a robust foundation for collaboration, particularly in serving the Japanese American community, known as Nikkei. Leaders within the community have expressed gratitude for the Sones’ dedication and anticipate a seamless continuation of these efforts under Aoshima’s guidance.
Aoshima, alongside his wife fukino Aoshima, was recently recognized at the Sake in the Park 2025 event, signaling the beginning of their engagement with local organizations and individuals. The event provided an opportunity for introductions and a demonstration of the ongoing commitment to fostering strong relationships.
