Musician Ryan Davis is gearing up for the release and tour of his latest album, New Threats. Despite feeling creatively depleted, Davis plans to spend time at his father’s cabin in south central Kentucky, the same location where he penned much of the new material. He intends to use this retreat to observe nature and assess his current songwriting output.
Close associates have spoken highly of Davis’s work. Marlowe, who has shared extensive time with Davis, noted the authenticity of his songwriting, stating, “And [his songs] seem very true to how we talk; how Ryan sees and thinks about things. He’s very articulate, and in a way where it’s – like all the good ones – mysterious. But I still sort of no what he’s saying.”
oldham echoed this sentiment, commenting on Davis’s ability to project a sense of “balanced and thoughtful calm” despite his known “angst.” Oldham added, “I’m not sure how he does what he does, nor where his aesthetic originates. He’s world-class.”
