Beloved Farm Sanctuary Dog Narrowly Escapes Clay Well, Reunites with Family
[Location] – Whitey, a cherished canine resident of Ziggy’s Refuge Farm Sanctuary (ZRFS), was rescued from a harrowing ordeal after becoming trapped in a clay well on the farm earlier this week. The incident prompted a frantic search by his caretakers, Kristin and Jay, and highlighted the unexpected dangers present even in a carefully managed animal sanctuary.
Whitey, who had roamed the ZRFS property for over a decade, recently formed a particularly strong bond with Kristin and jay, refusing to leave their side. the couple were shocked to discover him missing for several hours, ultimately finding him sunk chest-deep in the well.
“Whitey did not make any noise,” Kristin recounted. “I could barely hear the slight sound of his attempt to get out of the well. It was the last place where we imagined finding Whitey.”
Weary from struggling, Whitey was unable to free himself. Jay was able to successfully pull him to safety. Following the rescue, the couple brought Whitey inside, cleaned the mud from his coat, and allowed him to rest.
“Soon, Whitey was curled up in her bed with her humans, relieved, by her side,” according to ZRFS.
ZRFS described Whitey as a “basic member of the family” and a friend to all the animals on the farm.”It has been a real blessing every day since we moved,” the sanctuary wrote on social media. “Today, it is the center of our world. It is incredible, is the love of our lives, a gift that does not stop giving, and ther is no perfect description that describes it, because it is not understood unless you know it.”
The incident serves as a reminder of the constant vigilance required in animal care, even for well-established sanctuaries.
