Lokeren, belgium – August 9, 2025 – The Smashing Pumpkins delivered a dynamic performance at Lokerse Feesten last night, showcasing a blend of new material and beloved classics to a captivated audience of approximately 40,000 attendees at the Lokeren city park. The concert, part of the festival’s multi-genre lineup, highlighted the band’s enduring appeal and Billy Corgan‘s evolving stage presence.
The setlist featured tracks from their latest work, “Edin,” which resonated strongly with the crowd, bolstered by a powerful sound system and Jimmy Chamberlin‘s commanding drumming. “999,” a song originally released in 1995, was reimagined with a heavier, edge-metal influence, demonstrating the band’s willingness to experiment while respecting their legacy. A surprising cover of Berlin’s 1984 hit “Take My Breath Away” sparked enthusiastic singalongs, revealing a newfound sense of self-awareness and humor from frontman billy Corgan.
Visually, the stage was dominated by three large, internally illuminated dolls that synchronized with the light show, enhancing the immersive experience. However, the music remained the focal point. While Corgan’s vocals weren’t flawless, his voice held up remarkably well, particularly during emotionally charged renditions of “Disarm” and “Tonight, Tonight.” The performance included a nostalgic trip back to the grunge era with “Cherub Rock” and a vibrant revival of “Jellybelly,” a track from their 1995 album
