Liverpool Adidas Away Kit: 80s Throwback & Leak Details

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Liverpool Football Club’s new Adidas away kit for the 2025-26 season has been officially unveiled, featuring a design inspired by the club’s iconic 1980s kits and a unique crest referencing the historic Main Stand at Anfield.

The kit, released ahead of the new season, marks the return of Adidas as Liverpool’s official kit manufacturer after a 12-year absence. Liverpool previously partnered with Adidas from 1989 to 1996 and again from 2006 to 2012, before deals with Warrior, New Balance, and Nike. The club announced the renewed partnership with Adidas in March.

The away shirt boasts an off-white base color, accented with black and red detailing. A key design element is the club crest, which is framed within a shield inspired by the shape of the arched gable atop the original Main Stand at Anfield, dating back to 1906. Both the home and away shirts incorporate the 97 emblem, surrounded by eternal flames, as a tribute to the Hillsborough disaster victims.

According to Ben Latty, Liverpool’s chief commercial officer, the kit launch signifies more than just a new collection of apparel. “This is more than just the launch of a new kit—it marks the beginning of a 10-year relationship for LFC and adidas,” he stated. “Since announcing the partnership in March, there’s been a huge sense of anticipation and excitement. This first collection sets the tone for seasons to come.”

Sam Handy, GM at Adidas football, added, “The return of adidas to Liverpool FC is a momentous occasion for us. Seeing our iconic three stripes adorning Liverpool FC kits again is something we’re incredibly proud of. “The Home jersey is a true representation of the Liverpool DNA—classy and understated, while the away jersey pays homage to the club’s rich history.”

Liverpool has also announced that all profits from the sale of the new kits will be donated to the LFC Foundation, the club’s official charity, should fans choose to personalize their shirts with the name and number of Diogo Jota.

A leaked image of the 2026/27 Adidas away kit, circulating online in February 2026, suggests a white-and-red design reminiscent of classic 1980s Liverpool shirts.
