Lions, Lady Lions Roar too Golf Victories at degray
BISMARCK – The Bismarck Lions and Lady Lions demonstrated their prowess on the golf course this week, securing wins in both home and away matches against a competitive field of Arkansas high school teams. The recent successes highlight the growing strength of Bismarck’s golf program and position both teams favorably as the season progresses.
Head coach Sawyer Hardage’s squads faced Sheridan, Bauxite, Prescott, and Jessieville in 9-hole competitions, followed by a more extensive 18-hole match against Lake Hamilton, Mt. Ida, Sheridan, Spring Hill, and Poyen at DeGray Lake State Park Golf Course. These matches are crucial for refining team skills, individual performance, and ultimately, securing a strong position for upcoming tournaments and state qualification.
In a 9-hole match at DeGray State Park Golf Course, Sheridan claimed victory in the boys’ competition with a team score of 129, lead by Harper Gillis’s (+3) 39. Bismarck’s Lions finished a close second with a team score of 134. The Lady Lions, however, dominated their competition, achieving a team total of 146, spearheaded by Adelyn “Addy” Morrison, who earned medalist honors with a (+6) 42.
On thursday, Sept. 11, the teams traveled to Hot Springs Village’s Cortez Golf Course for a 9-hole tournament against Jessieville and Smackover. Judson Wolfe of Smackover led his team to victory in the boys’ competition with a stellar (-2) 34 and a team score of 112. Morrison continued her impressive form, carding a (+2) 38 to lead the Lady Lions to another victory.
