Linn gestblom to Return to Biathlon Competition After 21-Month Hiatus
Idre, Sweden – November 11, 2025 – Biathlete Linn Gestblom is set to make her competitive return this weekend at the season premiere in Idre, Sweden, after a 21-month absence due to persistent shoulder injuries.
Gestblom last competed at the World Championships in Nove Mesto in February 2024. She initially underwent surgery on her left shoulder immediately following the competition, but ongoing issues necessitated a second operation earlier this year.More recently, pain in her right shoulder forced her to miss a national team camp in idre just weeks ago.
Despite the setbacks, Gestblom expressed cautious optimism about her return in a recent interview with TT. “I hope to get back adn train enough before it starts. At the same time, I don’t think the comeback will come too soon,” she stated.
The Swedish athlete downplayed any pre-competition nerves associated with her lengthy time away from the sport, noting, “It’s the same every year, just as it should be, a little uncertain. It’s a bit of a charm.”
Gestblom has been actively preparing for her return, having participated in roller ski shooting competitions earlier this fall.
