LinkedIn is expanding its operational footprint beyond its core networking platform, establishing itself as a key provider of business operations solutions for a range of companies. The shift, signaled by a growing portfolio of learning resources and dedicated programs, represents a strategic move to capitalize on the increasing demand for data-driven operational expertise.
The company’s LinkedIn Learning platform now features a substantial catalog of courses focused on business operations, encompassing areas like operations strategy, management foundations, data-driven decision making, and business process improvement. Offerings include “Operations Strategy for Business,” released in August 2023, and “Data-Driven Decisions in Business Operations,” launched in October 2024. These courses, alongside professional certificates in operations management, indicate a deliberate effort to cultivate expertise in this field.
This expansion isn’t limited to educational resources. LinkedIn has launched the Strategy, Operations & Analytics Rotational (SOAR) Program, a two-year intensive program designed to train analytical talent in business operations. The SOAR program, according to LinkedIn’s career page, partners with leaders across the company, supporting both consumer and enterprise teams. The program focuses on developing skills in financial modeling, SQL, strategic analysis, and opportunity identification.
LinkedIn’s Business Operations team, or “BizOps,” plays a central role in this strategy. The team works across various functions, including Product, Sales, and Marketing, to drive impact for the company. LinkedIn’s career pages highlight open roles within Operations and Analytics, Trust, and various GTM (Go-To-Market) and Product teams, including LinkedIn Talent Solutions, Marketing Solutions, Learning Solutions, and Sales Solutions.
The company’s internal structure reflects this emphasis. LinkedIn’s career site details teams dedicated to Consumer Internal Operations and Long-term Strategy, further solidifying the importance of operational efficiency and planning. The SOAR program specifically aims to build “problem-solving, operational and strategic-thinking skills” within the company, according to program materials.
While LinkedIn has not publicly articulated a comprehensive strategy for offering business operations services externally, the internal investments and program development suggest a growing ambition in this area. The company has not responded to requests for comment regarding potential future external offerings.
