Limassol Dog Sanctuary Faces Eviction After 22 Years

LIMASSOL, CYPRUSSirius Dog Sanctuary,⁢ a long-standing‌ refuge for ‌abandoned dogs ​in Limassol, is facing eviction from its current location after 22​ years of ⁤operation.​ Teh sanctuary received notice that the land it occupies⁤ has been sold, adn⁤ is ⁢required to vacate the property by November 30, 2025.

For decades, Sirius has provided safety,‌ medical attention, and rehabilitation for dozens of homeless dogs, offering them a second chance at life.​ The sudden sale of the land represents a significant challenge for⁤ the institution, threatening the wellbeing of the ⁣14 dogs currently in its care and the continuation of its vital‍ services. Volunteers are⁢ now urgently seeking a ⁤new⁣ location and resources to relocate the animals and necessary infrastructure.

The news of the impending⁤ eviction came as a “real blow” and caused “shock and strong emotional stress” to the⁢ sirius team,according to a published statement. The primary focus is ‍now on securing a suitable⁤ new home for the dogs,requiring at least 13 secure aviaries or a plot of land to⁢ which existing structures can⁢ be moved.

“Your ⁢kindness and support ⁣have always helped​ us overcome difficulties. We beleive that together we‍ can find ​a way out and save our dogs safe,” the sanctuary stated.
