Light Night Leeds: One Second Lovestory Projection at The Queens Hotel

Leeds Landmark ‍to Bloom ‌with Animated Love Story for Light Night 2025

LEEDS,UK – October 10,2025 – The Queens Hotel,a ‌cornerstone of Leeds’ skyline, will be dramatically transformed ⁢this month with a stunning large-scale⁤ projection ‍mapping display as part of Light Night Leeds. German artist Dirk rauscher’s “One Second Lovestory,” an ⁤animated graphic novel, will illuminate the iconic building on October 22nd and ‌23rd, from 6pm to 10pm each evening.

The artwork depicts a fleeting connection between two individuals whose routines ‍are interrupted by a shared glance at a bustling train station. Rauscher‘s ‌piece, originally shown in Lyon, France, has been adapted and extended ⁤specifically for the⁣ Leeds event, highlighting the potential⁢ for connection even amidst the everyday rush.

“This is a visual poem about‍ the perceptions⁣ of time, offering a lyrical reflection on how fleeting moments shape our ⁤reality,” Rauscher explained. “dressed as a graphic novel, ⁢it’s telling the story of how the blink of an eye can make all the difference.”

The projection also celebrates 200 years of the modern passenger railway, given the hotel’s proximity ⁣to Leeds train station, and is sponsored by Markel.

This year’s Light Night Leeds theme, “Landmarks,” will showcase ‌the city’s⁣ historic buildings, modern architecture, and cherished public spaces, encouraging‍ visitors to reflect on places that hold personal significance.Other ‍installations include a new commission by Portuguese ‍artists Ocubo, “portals: The Machine of Worlds,” at Leeds Civic Hall, co-produced with the British Library.

Light night Leeds 2024 drew ‌a ⁢record-breaking 210,400 visitors, a 5% increase from the previous⁢ year.

Councillor Salma Arif, Leeds City Council’s executive member for adult ‍social care, active lifestyles and culture, stated: “Dirk Rauscher’s artwork promises to be one of the ‍key installations this year and I look ‍forward to seeing it transform The Queens hotel.”
