Liberty Media: F1 & MotoGP Revenue Soars to $4.48B in 2025

February 26, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Liberty Media, the parent company of Formula 1, reported $4.48 billion in revenue for the 2025 fiscal year, with Formula 1 contributing $3.87 billion to that total, according to financial results released today.

The figures represent a 14% increase in annual revenue for Formula 1, whereas operating income rose to $632 million, a 28% year-over-year increase. Adjusted OIBDA (operating income before depreciation and amortization) increased by 20% to $946 million.

The financial results come after Liberty Media finalized its acquisition of MotoGP, the top-tier motorcycle racing series, in July 2025, securing an 84% stake for $3.1 billion. Revenue for MotoGP increased by 14% to $573 million, with operating income growing by 86% to $54 million on a pro-forma basis. Adjusted MotoGP OIBDA rose to $201 million.

“2025 was an exceptional and productive year for Liberty and we are excited about the opportunities ahead,” said Derek Chang, president and chief executive of Liberty Media. “We delivered on our key strategic objectives – strengthening Formula 1’s growth trajectory, [and] completing the MotoGP acquisition.”

Within Formula 1, race promotion revenue accounted for 26.7% of primary income, media rights fees contributed 31.3%, and sponsorship fees made up 21.7%. Hospitality, freight, and licensing comprised the remaining 20.3%. All revenue sectors experienced growth, according to Liberty Media.

Growth in media rights revenue was partially attributed to “the continued growth in F1 TV subscription revenue, and recognition of one-time revenue associated with the F1 movie.” Total fan attendance during the 2025 Formula 1 season grew by 4%, reaching 6.75 million, while live viewership of races increased by 24% year-over-year.

Liberty Media secured a new sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered and extended its broadcast rights agreement with ESPN across Latin America and the Caribbean during the year.

The 2026 Formula 1 season is scheduled to begin on March 8th at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit in Melbourne, Australia. The circuit, which has hosted the race since 1996, is 5.278km long and will witness 58 laps completed for a total race distance of 306.124km.

For MotoGP, TV viewership increased by 9% year-on-year, and in-person fan attendance rose by 21%. Dorna Sports was officially rebranded as MotoGP Sports Entertainment SL following the Liberty Media takeover. The promoter holds a commercial agreement for the MotoGP series through 2060 and similarly manages the WorldSBK series.

The acquisition has led to personnel changes at Dorna, including the appointment of Chase Carey, former head of the F1 Group, as the new president, replacing William Jackson.

The 2026 MotoGP campaign will begin this weekend in Thailand.
