Levski Contract Talks Stall: Dimitrov Eyes Abroad Transfer

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

LevskiS efforts to secure defender Christian ⁢Dimitrov‘s⁤ future with the ⁣club are facing continued difficulty,⁤ according to reports. Contract talks‌ between the “blues” and the 28-year-old player remain unresolved as his current deal nears its expiration at the end of the season.

The ⁢stalled ‍negotiations center on Dimitrov’s ⁣ambition ‍to potentially‌ pursue opportunities ‌outside of Bulgaria, having revitalized‌ his career at Levski. Owner Nasko Sirakov and Executive Director Daniel Borimirov ⁣have held two meetings with the⁢ player, but sources⁤ indicate Dimitrov is hesitant to commit to an extension at this time.

Levski management has reportedly granted Dimitrov⁣ until the end of the year to make a decision regarding a new‍ contract. Should ⁣he decline to ⁣re-sign, the club may take a similar approach to that taken with former midfielder‍ Andy ‍Kraev, who was sidelined for‍ approximately six months after⁤ refusing to extend his contract ⁢and ultimately departed as a free agent in the summer of 2024. The situation highlights Levski’s policy of requiring player commitment ⁢and potentially facing consequences for those unwilling to agree to⁤ new terms.
