by Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor

A major fire erupted Friday evening in Lévis, Quebec, at a commercial building located at 57, route du Président-Kennedy, near boulevard Guillaume-Couture, prompting a large response from local fire services.

Emergency crews were alerted to the blaze after receiving multiple 911 calls. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered dense smoke and visible flames emanating from the first level of the two-story structure, according to Zone911.com. The scale of the fire quickly necessitated a second alarm, followed by a third alarm shortly after, bringing in additional personnel to combat the spreading flames.

Firefighters were forced to create multiple openings in the building to access and attempt to control the fire, which appeared to be located within the building’s structure. As of Saturday morning, the situation remained ongoing and evolving, with crews continuing to work to extinguish the blaze.

The affected building is the location of Frein & Embrayage Kennedy Inc., an automotive parts retailer registered with the Quebec government since 1995. The business is located at 658 route du Président-Kennedy, according to Quebec’s business registry.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
