Leopoldo López Attacks Henrique Capriles, Maduro Seeks to Strip Him of Nationality
López Accuses Capriles of Collusion with Maduro Regime, as Nationality Revocation Looms
Madrid, Spain – In a scathing attack, exiled Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo López has accused fellow opposition figure henrique Capriles Radonski of actively undermining efforts to bring about political change in Venezuela for over a decade, branding him a “token of the dictatorship.” The accusations, leveled during a recent interview with popular youtuber Miguel Herrera (“Kilometer”) published October 28th, come as the Maduro government moves to strip López of his Venezuelan nationality.
López directly accused Capriles, a former presidential candidate, of failing to effectively challenge the Nicolás Maduro administration. “Capriles has been a token of the dictatorship for a long time,” López stated, alleging a pattern of obstruction and tacit support for the current regime.
Claims of a 2014 Deal and Ongoing Sabotage
The founder of the Voluntad Popular party detailed a specific incident from 2014, while imprisoned at Ramo Verde. López claims Capriles proposed a deal: that he call for an end to ongoing anti-government protests.
