León, Guanajuato – Club León is aggressively shaping its roster for the Clausura 2026 season, reportedly nearing agreements with two former América players: Diego Valdés and José Iván Rodríguez. The moves signal a clear intent by La Fiera to contend for a championship, bringing in proven talent with winning pedigrees.
Valdés, currently with Vélez Sarsfield, is poised for a return to liga MX after a stint in Argentina.Simultaneously,José Iván Rodríguez is confirmed to be returning to León following his time with Necaxa. Both players were part of América’s recent success, adding championship experience to Ignacio Ambriz’s squad. This dual acquisition represents a notable investment in León’s future and a direct challenge to Liga MX’s top clubs.
Rodríguez, despite not appearing in a Liga MX match for Las Águilas, was a registered member of André Jardine’s championship-winning team in 2023. He also participated in América’s Supercopa MX triumph against Tigres,a 2-1 victory secured by goals from Javairo Dilrosun and Henry Martín.
