Lenovo Launches Affordable ThinkPad E16 Gen 4 With Intel Wildcat Lake Processors in the US
Lenovo is expanding its commercial laptop lineup in the United States with the release of the ThinkPad E16 Gen 4. Powered by Intel’s Core Series 3 “Wildcat Lake” processors, the new 16-inch model offers a lower-cost alternative to the company’s existing Panther Lake and AMD Ryzen AI 400-based configurations, according to reports from Notebookcheck.

Price Gaps and Performance Trade-offs
This base configuration includes a Core 5 320 processor, 16 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. For comparison, the Panther Lake-equipped version of the same chassis starts at $1,619, while the AMD Ryzen AI 7 345 model is priced at $1,569 for similar memory and storage specifications, as noted by Notebookcheck.
Hardware limitations accompany the lower price point. While Panther Lake and AMD variants support dual-channel memory, the Wildcat Lake model relies on a single SO-DIMM slot. Additionally, the Wildcat Lake version swaps the Wi-Fi 7 connectivity found in higher-tier models for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. Despite these trade-offs, Lenovo offers performance-tier configurations for the E16 Gen 4, reaching up to a Core 7 350 processor and 32 GB of RAM, with top-tier builds priced at $2,259.
Display and Hardware Specifications
The entry-level ThinkPad E16 Gen 4 features a 16-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1200 resolution, a 60 Hz refresh rate, and 45% NTSC color coverage. Lenovo provides optional upgrades, including a 120 Hz touchscreen that expands color accuracy to 100% sRGB.
Standard across the series are a backlit keyboard with a dedicated number pad, a 1080p webcam, and a fingerprint reader. The chassis includes a 48 Wh battery and a diverse port selection consisting of USB-C, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, an RJ45 Ethernet port, and a headphone jack. The device notably excludes an integrated SD card reader.
International Rollout and Market Availability
The rollout of the Wildcat Lake-equipped ThinkPad E16 Gen 4 is not limited to the United States. The device has appeared in international markets, including Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore. In Australia, the model starts at approximately AUD 1,456, significantly undercutting the AUD 2,015 starting price of the Panther Lake counterparts.
While the machines are currently available for purchase through Lenovo’s direct retail channels, some third-party listings, such as an Amazon configuration priced at $1,419, have already moved to out-of-stock status.
