His team leader provided assistance by handing him food adn two water bottles, a delivery that was deemed excessively long.
Following this, Martinez rejoined the leading group and secured the mountain points on the Col du Glandon, ahead of his rival Thymen Arensman. While Martinez initially gained 20 points, the subsequent penalty reduced his total by eight. His current mountain classification tally stands at 72 points, placing him third overall. jonas Vingegaard leads with 89 points, and Tadej Pogacar is in second with 105 points. Vingegaard is expected to wear the mountain jersey on the upcoming stage, as pogacar is currently in the yellow jersey.
