Czech actress Lenka Krobotová on Navigating Social Media, Second Chances, adn Finding Freedom in a Later Stage of Life
Prague – Actress Lenka Krobotová, known for roles in films like Summer with Evžen (2024) and a prolific career in Czech cinema and theater, has spoken candidly about the challenges and benefits of social media, the evolving landscape of the acting profession, and the joys of finding personal freedom after forty. In a recent interview with Novinky.cz, krobotová discussed the pressures of maintaining a social media presence, the importance of setting boundaries, and the revitalizing power of travel with her husband.
Krobotová acknowledges a growing trend within the entertainment industry where an actor’s social media following can influence casting decisions - a progress she finds “completely out of the question.” She views social media as a necessary, yet often frustrating, tool for promotion, but also a space requiring careful navigation. ”So that you make a post in good faith and suddenly people start writing you unpleasant comments,” she explained. “So I started taking networks as another training in how to set boundaries.” She also noted that social media profiles often reveal a person’s intelligence, or lack thereof.
The actress, who remarried after forty, emphasized that she is “far from the only woman” experiencing a fulfilling second chapter in life. She and her husband are enjoying increased freedom as their children from previous marriages become more independent, allowing them to prioritize travel and shared experiences. “I try to balance my work so that I have time to travel a lot,” Krobotová said. “My husband and I enjoy it a lot…This is a great advantage of this stage of life.” She finds value in sharing positive experiences – work, festivals, nature, and travel – through social media, while also acknowledging its potential dangers.
