Lehigh Valley Student Named Young Ambassador of Pennsylvania

Lehigh Valley Student Selected for⁢ Statewide Environmental Leadership Program

Harrisburg, PA ⁤- A ‍Lehigh Valley 12th grader is among the newest cohort of Young Ambassadors of Pennsylvania, a⁢ program ⁢designed to cultivate the next‌ generation of environmental stewards and civic leaders.​ The student ⁤will⁢ participate ⁤in training and hands-on projects focused​ on litter prevention, waste management, and community engagement.

The Young Ambassadors program, a collaboration between⁢ the Pennsylvania ⁤Department of⁣ Transportation (PennDOT) and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, launched its fourth year this⁢ month. It​ aims to empower high school students to address environmental challenges and promote a cleaner, ‌more beautiful commonwealth.Participants, ⁣selected from 10th through 12th grades and representing diverse backgrounds, ‍will ⁢develop leadership​ skills and⁣ contribute to local cleanup efforts.

“Restoring and preventing environmental damage means making sure our future leaders have the ecological know-how to make sustainable change happen,” ⁢PennDOT Secretary⁣ Mike Carroll said.

Throughout the program, running through May, ambassadors will receive cleanup supplies and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful merchandise. Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful⁢ will also award scholarships – two $1,000 awards for current seniors and one ⁣for ⁣a program alum.
