Lehigh Valley Student Selected for Statewide Environmental Leadership Program
Harrisburg, PA - A Lehigh Valley 12th grader is among the newest cohort of Young Ambassadors of Pennsylvania, a program designed to cultivate the next generation of environmental stewards and civic leaders. The student will participate in training and hands-on projects focused on litter prevention, waste management, and community engagement.
The Young Ambassadors program, a collaboration between the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, launched its fourth year this month. It aims to empower high school students to address environmental challenges and promote a cleaner, more beautiful commonwealth.Participants, selected from 10th through 12th grades and representing diverse backgrounds, will develop leadership skills and contribute to local cleanup efforts.
“Restoring and preventing environmental damage means making sure our future leaders have the ecological know-how to make sustainable change happen,” PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll said.
Throughout the program, running through May, ambassadors will receive cleanup supplies and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful merchandise. Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful will also award scholarships – two $1,000 awards for current seniors and one for a program alum.
