Legends Aligned: Land of Order Review – Pointless Puzzle Game?
A new puzzle game, Legends Aligned: Land of Order, released on March 17th for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, has drawn mixed reactions, with one reviewer describing the experience as “pointless” and akin to a children’s shape-sorting toy.
The game, developed and published by Afil Games, challenges players to fill oddly shaped grids with Tetris-like blocks, ensuring no gaps or overlaps. According to the Microsoft Store listing, the goal is to “observe, test, and reorganize ideas without rush or pressure,” offering a “relaxing experience” for fans of visual puzzles. Thirty levels are included.
However, Dave Ozzy, writing for TheXboxHub, published a review on March 21st, expressing significant dissatisfaction. Ozzy admitted a potential bias, stating he doesn’t typically enjoy shape-sorting puzzles. His critique centered on a lack of clear enjoyment or satisfying gameplay. “My issue is that I don’t really know where the enjoyment is meant to reach from,” he wrote. He noted the multitude of potential solutions, the lack of visual progression – as each block appears similar – and the repetitive nature of the puzzles.
Ozzy conceded that Legends Aligned: Land of Order is “slightly better than most” games in the genre, primarily because it provides players with the exact number of blocks needed to complete each puzzle, avoiding the frustration of having excess pieces. Despite this, he found the game quickly became fatiguing, with limited variety in grid shapes and a lack of meaningful payoff.
The reviewer also pointed out the game’s Hint feature, which offers a specific solution path that may differ from the player’s approach, further highlighting the open-ended nature of the puzzles. He described the experience as “a cozy game” that lulled his mind into a passive state, but ultimately lacked the variety or interest to be truly comforting.
Legends Aligned: Land of Order is currently available for purchase on the Xbox Store for $3.99 as part of a limited-time sale, reduced from its regular price of $4.99. It is also available as part of a bundle with other puzzle games, including Temari Trials: Dojo + Claim the Forest: Shape.
