“Legend of Zelda” Live-Action Film: First Set Videos Surface Online
Filming for Sony Pictures’ live-action adaptation of “the Legend of Zelda” began earlier this month in Wellington, New Zealand, and is scheduled to continue through April of next year. Initial footage from the set has now emerged online, shared by fans who captured brief glimpses of a forest location shoot. The videos are currently available on Reddit.
The leaked footage offers blurry views of costumes worn by actors Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, portraying Link in his signature green attire, and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda, dressed in blue.
Additionally, the videos appear to feature Australian actress Dichen Lachman (“Severance,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Jurassic World Dominion”), sparking speculation she may be playing Impa, though her involvement has not been officially confirmed.
The footage is believed to originate from a single, longer clip split into two parts, reportedly posted by a photographer and their videographer colleague on Instagram.
The videographer, described as having blue eyes and blond hair, briefly appears in the footage, generating online discussion about his resemblance to the character of Link.
Derek Connolly and T. S. Nowlin are writing the screenplay for the film, which is directed by Wes Ball. The movie is currently slated for release on May 7th, 2027.
